JOSEPH S. BETTERMAN, CHAIRMAN
Born on July 12th 1984, Joe Betterman would grow up in Chicago, Illinois and go on to attend Lakeview Highschool where he began his wrestling career. Upon graduating from Lakeview he was given a full scholarship to Northern Michigan University where he would go on to compete for Team USA wrestling through the U.S Olympic Education Center program coached by Ivan Ivanov. Joe’s career was nothing short of spectacular as he was a multiple time national champion, a member of the 2007 gold medal U.S world team, and one of the best 60 KG Greco wrestlers of his time.
DEANNA R. BETTERMAN, TREASURER
Born on July 6th 1987, Deanna Rix Betterman grew up in South Berwick, Maine and began wrestling at the young age of 3 years old for her fathers wrestling club. She would go on to attend Marshwood High School where she would go on to win over 100 matches in the boys division catching the eye of the media with her amazing wrestling talents. Deanna would then continue her wrestling career at Northern Michigan University through the U.S Olympic Education Center program where she too would compete for team USA. Throughout Deanna’s wrestling career she continued to be an role model for women wrestlers everywhere winning multiple national titles, becoming a world team member, and becoming one of the greatest female freestyle wrestlers of her time.
